BHS News Updates September 6, 2019
Posted on 09/06/2019

Parents & Guardians,

It's been a busy first week at Brookfield High School.  LINK Crew has been busy with activities for our incoming Grade 9 students; today we had grade assemblies and Fall sports will be starting soon. Students are settling in well. There are a few information items that I'd like to draw your attention to.

1. Annual "Appropriate Use of Technology" and "Media Permission" Forms

All Brookfield HS students/parents are to submit these online forms. Please submit by Friday September 13, 2019. The forms are electronic and you do not have to print them or return them to school. Once you click on the check box, the rest of the form will appear.

a) Appropriate Use of Technology

b) Media Release Form

2. Student Accident Insurance

Creating a caring and safe environment for our students is our top priority. Unfortunately, despite all reasonable precautions being taken, accidents can still happen. Some injuries may result in medical, dental or other expenses that are not covered by provincial health care of employer group plans. As a parent/guardian, you become responsible for these expenses.

Student accident insurance is available for purchase, on a voluntary basis, through Reliable Life Insurance Company. There are pamphlets available in the Main Office with more information. Parents may apply online at http://www.insuremykids.com/or may download forms at http://www.binks.ca/ . The OCDSB encourages all parents/guardians to consider purchasing this insurance. If your child is involved in school related sports activities or is participating in any field trips out of the province, you may wish to consider the coverage options, which range from $13.00/year to $33.00/year. This coverage is for the entire calendar year and also applies outside of school hours. If you have questions, please call Binks Insurance Brokers directly at 613-226-1350.

3. Picture Day

Picture Day is Tuesday September 10, 2019.

After Picture Day, order your pictures on http://www.mylifetouch.ca/using your Portrait ID and Access Code which can be found on your Picture Day order form.

4. Course Changes

Our Student Services Department will be seeing students for course changes beginning next week. Students are to make appointments by either signing up in person or by scanning the QR code available in Student Services.

5. Brookfield HS Open House!

Brookfield's Open House is the perfect opportunity to meet your child or children's teachers. Please join us on Thursday September 19, 2019 from 6:00 - 7:30 pm. There will be a brief session in the Auditorium followed by visiting classes.  Timetable pick-up will begin at 5:45 pm in the Foyer.

We are here to help. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call Brookfield at 613-733-0610

Sincerely,

Tracy Shapiro,

Principal, Brookfield High School
