STUDENT AMBASSADORS

The Student Ambassador Program is made up of students that act as liaisons between the student body and the greater community. They volunteer at different school events throughout the year such as Follow Your Child's Timetable, Parent Teacher Interviews, Grade 8 Night, Awards Assembly, etc .

DIVERSITY CLUB

At the Diversity Club we discuss equity issues pertaining to: Sexual Orientation, Disabilities, Race, Mental Health, Healthy Relationships, and our School Community.

We acknowledge, promote and celebrate awareness of national, international and local campaigns like: The International Day to End Racial Discrimination, The International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia, International Women’s Day, Day of PINK, Day of Silence, National Aboriginal Day, Mental Health Awareness Week, The Rainbow Youth Forum, The Pride Parade, Black History Month, and Asian Heritage Month.

Volunteers from The Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity will occasionally be joining our meetings throughout the year. http://ccgsd-ccdgs.org/

ULTIMATE FRISBEE CLUB

The Ultimate Frisbee Club operates during both the Fall and the Spring. The team holds scrimmages at school and plays teams from across the city at local tournaments.

MULTICULTURAL CLUB

The Multicultural Club is Brookfield's club where the students celebrate their culture and heritage. They want to show their pride and raise awareness of Brookfield's perse student population. Several events take place throughout the year to celebrate our multiculturalism.

ANIME CLUB

ART CLUB

Art Club meets every Wednesday at lunch in room 140 (The ArtRm). Come explore your love of visual art. Bring your lunch and work on your own projects, experiment, develop your portfolio, try new techniques, and learn new skills with others who love art!

CRYSTAL GROWING

Students get 5 weeks to grow a crystal from 100 grams of powder. They are then scored based on crystal form and mass of crystal!

There is a City-wide competition, with best crystal going to Provincial competition.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS’ CLUB

Brookfield is presently home to over 70 International Students coming from countries such as Spain , Brazil , China , Columbia , Japan , South Korea , Germany , Italy , Mexico , Thailand , and Vietnam . These students have joined our school to learn English and may stay from one semester to four years.

Brookfield ’s International Student Club meets to assist the students as they adjust to life in Canada and to their new school. Over lunch students have a chance to meet other International Students, discuss upcoming school activities and get to know teachers, administration as well as staff from the International Student Office.

Our International students are an inspiration to many Brookfield students and friendships are made that last long after the students leave our school.

SKI & SNOWBOARD CLUB

The Ski and Snowboard Club runs during the months of January, February and March. The Club takes place in the evenings during the week and trips usually leave Brookfield at 3:20 p.m. and return by 10:00 p.m. The club will be traveling to local hills in the Ottawa/Gatineau area

TECH CREW

The Tech Crew is comprised of a group of students who are interested in learning all aspects of operating the school’s audio visual equipment. This equipment is used for many extra curricular events.

CHESS

Are you interested in playing Chess?

In the Library Chess gets located at the front. If you would like to play outside on the Courtyard tables; please go to the Main Office to pick-up the Chess pieces

HOMEWORK CLUB

The Homework Club is up and running!! This year, the homework center will be open in the mornings from 8:20 to 9:00 a.m. in Room 109. The focus will be on Math and Science but all are welcome. The Homework Club will continue as usual after school (Monday – Thursday) until 4:00 p.m. , but will be located in Room 162. The focus will be on the Languages and Social Science but again all students seeking help are welcome to attend

STAR WARS CLUB

If you’re a fan of Star Wars, this is the club for you!! Watch it! Read it! Play it! Talk about it! Love it, and meet others who love it too!

BROOKFIELD MUSLIM STUDENT ASSOCATION

The Brookfield Muslim Student Association’s goal is to strengthen the Student Brotherhood and Sisterhood of all grades and religious background. We plan to do this through several events through the year.

THE BHS CHRISTIAN UNION

The association is open for all students of Christian background as well as those who would like to know and understand Christianity even though they may not be interested in becoming Christians.

The association fosters the understanding of the teaching of Jesus Christ as recorded in the Holy Bible .

The union fosters brotherly love for all and discrimination for none irrespective of gender, cultural background, religion, or ethnicity. It teaches and promotes love and respect for self, equality for all, before God and man and the importance of our lives on earth as well as the reason for respect and protection of live by everybody.

We also encourage and support students to be good representatives of themselves, and good ambassadors of their families and communities by working to distinguish themselves as successful and contributing members of society.

BLACK HISTORY ASSOCIATION

The Black History Association is a student-led group that invites participation from youths toward the advancement of education by increasing the knowledge and appreciation of young people in BHS but not limited to only students of African descent but to all young people. The association invites students and youths in general, to get involved in researching, appreciating and participating in the history, culture, traditions and achievements of Canadians of African descent.

The Black History Association of BHS invites everybody, irrespective of race, gender, religion, ethnicity or cultural affiliation; to join in educating the today’s youth’s against the ills of our society; hate and discrimination and to focus them to the possibilities and realities of the Canadian dreams; success, opportunities, positive contributions toward growth, development and prosperity all purposed at nation-building.

YOGAEROBICS

Yogaerobics is a specially designed program to help you attain the level of fitness you need. Reduce daily stress and achieve your fitness goals at your own pace in a positive and friendly environment. Hatha yoga stretching and relaxation techniques leave participants refreshed and vitalized.
